The Event Director is responsible for the planning, organization, and successful execution of Knight Eady (KE) owned and operated events, as well as hosted client events. In addition, you will support the entire portfolio of KE events throughout the year.
The Event Director serves as the primary liaison between event stakeholders, facility operators and other entities that impact the success of the event. This position reports to the Vice President of Events. Current event clients include the NCAA, Conference USA, Korn Ferry Tour, Alabama High School Athletic Association. Other assigned events include KE-owned events.

Organizational/Event Management
The primary duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and maintain event operations manuals for all KE events
- Serve as the main point of contact for venue and facility management to include site selection, specifications, contract negotiation, permits and facility rentals
- Procure and confirm in writing event equipment and supplies necessary for the event, as needed
- Analyze event needs and develop production timelines and run-of-show schedules
- Develop processes necessary to ensure proper execution of event operations, including but not limited to, parking, credentialing, ticketing, security.
- Initiate, schedule, direct and participate in internal and external pre-event meetings
- Liaise with local entities such as police, parks, facilities, vendors
- Manage the placement of all sponsor-related and event collateral (e.g. banners, signage, placards, etc.)
- Effectively utilize internal staff by proactively communicating event information and directing each staff person’s roles and responsibilities while working the event
- Prepare and conduct post-event recaps with clients and vendors, including the reporting of participant and client feedback survey results
- Coach and manage event interns, when applicable
Financial & Risk Management
- Create and manage event budgets for KE-owned events
- Assist in creation and oversight of hosted clients’ event budgets, when applicable
- Manage event-specific accounts receivable and accounts payable, vendor contracts, check requests and invoices
- Secure COIs for vendors and execute vendor contracts
- Create and document emergency preparedness and evacuation proceduresReceive and follow up on incident reports
Sales/Bid Opportunities
- Promote the revenue generation work of KE by supporting new and existing business development functions, including the research of potential bid opportunities
- Assist with writing and assembling materials for event bids and proposals
what you have
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum of (1) year of demonstrated experience in large-scale, fast-paced, and high-stakes event management
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in the successful execution of assigned events
- Commitment to a collaborative and contagious work environment
- Valid driver’s license and ability to lift objects over 35 pounds are requirements.
